Repost of a cartoon I did last year about Black Friday. Seems this year didn’t live up to even last years dismal results.
Black Friday is so called b/c for many retailers it is what brings them out of the red (losses) and into the black (profits)

Hmmm, the results are in already on Black Friday?
November 30, 2009 at 11:58 am
That was so 3 days ago.
November 30, 2009 at 2:59 am
I didn’t even bother to go shopping last Friday, so I don’t know how the stores did. Everyone I spoke with said they were too broke to run out that day. 🙂
November 30, 2009 at 11:59 am
Everyone says that but then they buy stuff online.
November 30, 2009 at 6:21 am
This year’s Black Friday should be called “Black Novembe”, since it seems that retailers started on Christmas as soon as Halloween was done.
November 30, 2009 at 11:59 am
You forget the Christmas in July sales.
December 2, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Silly me…how could I forget Christmas in July, Halloween in August, back to school in July, Valentine’s day in December…
November 30, 2009 at 8:34 am
Love the Acme sign (looks kinda’ like my stats) … I’m waiting for it to completely self destruct at any moment! 🙂
November 30, 2009 at 11:59 am
At least they are on the upswing.
December 1, 2009 at 10:51 am
Oh, yeah … missed that part. I retract the parenthesized part of my previous statement. 🙂
November 30, 2009 at 5:44 pm
My stats resemble someone on a heart monitor about ready to go flat line , I have never shopped on a Black Friday and don’t have any future plans to do so either
December 1, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Stats are like a roller coaster.

Dem ears Bearman? Black Friday is now being referred to the day Tiger got a whipping from his missus!
November 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm
What no finger so you have to talk about the ears?
November 30, 2009 at 10:24 pm
I had to go with something, it was either the ears or her fringe!!!
December 1, 2009 at 1:45 am
Fringe? Hmm, like “finger” except the “r” is in the wrong place…weird!
December 1, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Thank you miss anagram. Didn’t we cover that in a previous post.
November 30, 2009 at 9:12 am
Hey look at the bright side. We’ve got one holiday behind and only a couple more and we can get back to real life.
November 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm
No..then there are the presidents day sales, Valentines Day sales, Easter Sales,…
December 1, 2009 at 8:33 am
I am a lucky man. My wife is hooked on Rummage Sales and she won’t fall for any of the sales hype on new stuff anymore. Some folks are going to be surprised to get a used toaster this Christmas.
December 1, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Put a few daisy stickers on it and it is art.
November 30, 2009 at 9:21 am
Ha! Well, as Calvin once said: “If you keep peoples’ expectations low, they’ll never be disappointed.”
November 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm
I try to do that everyday Chris.
November 30, 2009 at 9:46 am
Hmmm….So could we have used last year’s news articles for this year as well….i mean sales were down 8%. People still cannot put bread on the table how are we to get clothes….sorry.
fix the economy first….we need jobs..jobs jobs..
it is so interesting though that ur cartoon for last year is still relevant.
November 30, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I am timeless that way.
November 30, 2009 at 10:02 am
Ha ha…funny Bearman!
I have always been fascinated with your Black Friday…probably because I’m Canadian and have never taken part. Usually I just watch people beat eachother sensless for the last discounted PVR on CNN…
November 30, 2009 at 12:01 pm
So people in Canada don’t rush out the day after Thanksgiving…Oh wait that’s why..haha
November 30, 2009 at 10:48 am
Haha, nice one!
November 30, 2009 at 12:01 pm
tyty
November 30, 2009 at 11:27 am
Seems like you are correct, this is relivent again!
November 30, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Sadly so.
November 30, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Pink Friday! It’s motto is “Pink Don’t Stink… much” The only shopping I did was late Friday and it was, I admit, for myself. Bad me.
November 30, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I’ll send you my wish list. Next time don’t be so selfish.
November 30, 2009 at 2:04 pm
At last I know why it’s called Black Friday. I thought it was because it was such an incredibly awful day to go outside.
November 30, 2009 at 4:11 pm
Stick with me Sheila…I’ll learn ya.
November 30, 2009 at 2:07 pm
I have never even gone shopping (nor close to a shopping center) on Black Friday.
November 30, 2009 at 4:12 pm
That’s b/c you are an online shopper. That and QVC.
November 30, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Into the pink then…..
November 30, 2009 at 4:12 pm
hmmm
November 30, 2009 at 5:06 pm
that’s about right bearman! did you know that 89.9% of all statistics are just made up?
November 30, 2009 at 5:10 pm
You just made that up.
December 2, 2009 at 1:23 pm
uh….h-e-l-l-o…of course i did! see what i mean?
December 1, 2009 at 11:10 am
I boycott “Black Friday,” and hope others start doing it, too. The dishonest advertising practices of retailers is pretty gross, in my opinions. “Let’s send out an ad to 500,000 people that we have a 50” LCD TV for $399, knowing we only have 5 in stock.” Yes, the people are at fault for falling for it, too, but it’s borderline false advertising and deliberately scandalous.
Sorry, misleading advertising is one of my hot buttons. I hate how stupid the corporations think (or know) the consumer is.
December 1, 2009 at 5:20 pm
I can’t help it you were 6th in line after me.
December 2, 2009 at 11:23 am
My wife is the smartest woman I know (I have been programmed to say such things), she does 85% of her christmas shopping AFTER christmas through January when things are like 90% off! So by the time Halloween rolls around, she’s done and wrapped. People seem to not realize how shallow those holiday sales really are!
December 1, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Set your goals low…. That way if you reach them or not… It really doesn’t matter… : )
December 1, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Spoken like a true optimist..haha
December 2, 2009 at 11:33 am
I do have a reputation to uphold…. LOL!!
December 1, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Dear Bearman and Loony: I would like to propose a collaborative post that we can all post on our respective blogs…I came to this idea because I got to thinking about our talents:
Bearman talent: funny awesome cartoons
Loony: creative and funny news telling
My talent: well.. the list is endless but my contributing talent could be writing the dialogue of the event as my mind imagines it.. hehe
maybe we could pick something funny that Loony finds.. bearman draws maybe 2 or 3 scenes and I can put dialogue to it?
copyright idea susispice2009
😛 lol
December 1, 2009 at 10:42 pm
You and the Loony bird figure it out and I’ll draw. But you have to limit it all to one scene. I only do single panels…multiples just give me headaches.
