Addanac City – Hank at 100

George Ford of Addanac City was one of the first Webcomic artists to find me on the internet and actually comment on my stuff.  Addanac City is all about Hank Addanac and the loons that surround him.  George describes Hank as “one kid who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Nearly every day, you can find Hank in hot water with his family, friends, and school officials.  Hank has no respect for authority whatsoever. He’s that kid you love to hate and hate to love.”

Some tend to compare Hank to Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes but I tend to think he is more like Dennis the Menace because he is oblivious to the mayhem he causes.  However Hank is Dennis with some actual Cojones.  You can follow George via Twitter as well.

Thanks for the funny George!

Off Season – At 100

Posted in Guest Cartoon with tags , , , , , on August 29, 2009 by bearmancartoons

Next up in the Guest Cartoon line-up is Warren Frantz of Off Season.  Warren is a relative new comer to creating webcomics but not that new.  He just moved his comic to the big time of Drunk Duck so there is only one toon up there as of writing this.  So check out his archives here.  If you like you can also follow him on Twitter.

Off Season follows the goings-on of mild-mannered professional hockey goalie Gully Golz and his best friend, fiery sportscaster Sammy Melon. It answers the question: What do athletes do in the off season?  First up is a picture of Gully now.

And at 100…

Old Goalies

I love how he still wears his gloves and puts them down his underpants.  Thanks Warren!!

1977 the Comic – At 100

Posted in Guest Cartoon with tags , , , , , on August 27, 2009 by bearmancartoons

A month ago I put out a request to webcomic creators to share with us their view of themselves or their comic strip characters at age 100. I won’t be able to comment while deep in other stuff so make sure to give all my guest cartoons the love and support that you never gave me.

First up is Byron Wilkins of 1977 – The Comic. Why is Byron first…well because he was the first to send me something and by now he is wondering whether or not I would actually use it.

1977 explores the madcap life of four friends trying to make it in the Rock biz. The 70’s were all about the Kouchie and the Coochie so don’t click on the link if you are offended by sexual or drug references. Byron says of his creation “The comic is based loosely on my life back in 1977 when I was 20 and eager to be a “rock star” and ended up playing gigs at bars in downstate Illinois (the big time for sure!).”

Byron’s character Bud (hmmm wonder how he got that name) is a 20 year old Chicago native who plays bass in the band. Check out Byron’s site for more folks from the band and be sure to follow his TWITTER updates.

Thanks Byron!

Bearman Cartoon: Celebrity Death Panel 6

If you missed the beginning of our story…go here first.

And the final episode of Celebrity Death Panel…

Originally I had in mind that Graham Reaper would be Sarah Palin trying to make money off “Death Panels” like Al Gore does off of Carbon Credits.  But then I figured you all needed something to do for two weeks while I am gone.  Just like the books when you were a kid where you chose the ending, I am asking the frequent commenters and lurkers of beartoons.com to comment on who they think the character should be and what he or she is saying.

So I am calling out those who I see coming here from other sites and especially those who don’t comment.  Jeff Jena and his conservative friends at Big Hollywood.  Rhino and his Libertarian friends at the DailyPaul.  Jammer get the Prairie Progressives to chime in.  Even the 2012 conspiracy news guys need to put down their Playboy Magazines and chime in.

It can either be someone you don’t like or someone you do…

Here is the only thing I ask. If you want to comment beyond offering up the suggestion of the identity of Graham Reaper and what he/she should be saying…BE CIVIL. This site is about the funny. I am leaving comments open while I am gone so let’s all get along.

Once I get back, I’ll pick the most popular or the one that I find funniest and draw it as the actual final panel of this series.

Note 1 – I haven’t left you completely without something new to look at while I am gone the next couple weeks. Thursday as I have a series of great toonists lined up to share with us either what they think they will look like or their cartoon character will look like at age 100. I’ll have a new one every two days.

Note 2 – Check out the story arc of the possible demise of the Frustrated Cartoonist as Nate Fakes hits the big time.

Note 3 – Congratulations to George Ford on his one year Anniversary of the online comic Addanac City. After doing six toons in a row, I have new respect for all of you who hold down a full time job and still can crank out 3-7 new cartoons every week.

I’ll be around to comment on Wednesday and Thursday morning but after that, you have to talk amongst yourselves.
